KL City Air Terminal (KLCAT) @ KL Sentral Station
Designed as an "airport in the city", the Kuala Lumpur City Air Terminal (KLCAT) is an extension of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), and recognized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as a city destination with the Global Destination Code of XKL. It is conveniently located inside KL Sentral Station, Malaysia’s largest and state-of-the-art transportation hub, which offers direct access to six rail systems and links to major highways.
KLCAT and KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) are connected via KLIA Ekspres, a non-stop high-speed train service.
Flight check-in facility
Stop dragging your luggage everywhere you go and avoid the rush to check-in at KLIA. You can check-in your flight right there at KLCAT. At the moment however, check-in service is only available for Malaysian Airlines (MH), Cathay Pacific (CX), Emirates Air (EK) and Royal Brunei Airlines (BI). Simply check-in at KLCAT and collect your boarding pass in advance so you can enjoy peace of mind and baggage-free travelling.
The minimum check-in time is 2 hours before flight departure time (1 ½ hours for those on domestic flights without luggage). You will be issued with a flight boarding pass and luggage claim tag (if you have checked-in baggage). The check-in service is provided for air travelers who hold valid KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit ticket.
To check-in, proceed to the KLIA Ekspres Departure at KLCAT (located at Level 1, KL Sentral Station). The airlines check-in counters are located opposite of the KLIA Ekspres ticket counter. Upon check-in, boarding pass will be issued to you and your luggage will be tagged to your flight destination. For international flight, immigration process will be conducted at the airport. Right after check-in, proceed to the Automated Control Gate (ACG) to insert your ticket and go down to the train platform to catch the next train to the airport. You only need to carry your hand luggage as your tagged luggage will be transferred directly to the airport.
KLCAT’s unmatched convenience
KLCAT offers a large selection of food and retail outlets as well as travel-related services such as airline ticketing, travel boutiques, banking kiosks, bureau de change, telecommunication and taxis. Travelers upon checking-in for their flights, are free to walk around, have a meal or do some shopping either before they depart from KL Sentral Station or upon arrival from KLIA.
KL Sentral transit hub
As Malaysia's largest transit hub, KL Sentral Station is Kuala Lumpur's integrated rail transportation centre, offering interconnectivity and seamlessly linking to all urban and suburban residential, commercial and industrial areas. KLCAT is within the same building with KL Sentral Station where it is easily accessed by road, and is supported by other public transportation systems such as the RapidKL-LRT, KL Monorail, KTM commuter, KTM Intercity, feeder buses and city taxis.
